Refined without being pretentious Josephine’s Chef Tony Consentino uses the seasons to direct his menu taking advantage of the best produce and seafood from across the country. Month by month and often suggesting wine pairings from the Wine Spectator- awarded wine menu to accompany each dish. Of particular note in summer months is his achiote smoked pork osso bucco which is slowed braised and served with a luscious Tillamock green chili polenta and sautéed baby vegetables.

Enjoy the finest in oak-broiled steaks, seafood, prime rib, and more in a unique and unforgettable setting at Black Bart’s. Its history is unlike any other dining establishment in Arizona in that it was born of the talents of local students! Back in 1979, Black Bart’s was actually an RV Park, but its owners had a vision of transforming it into a steakhouse filled with musically and theatrically inclined students from the nearby Northern Arizona University. The tradition continues today as Black Bart’s offers a full musical revue including entertainment running the gamut from Disney to 80s hits. Oh, and don’t miss the cocktail menu, which features drinks inspired by the Southwest.

Contemporary and cool, yet warm and inviting, Brix is owned by the same team behind Criollo and Proper Meats, so you know it’s amazing. They are so focused on spotlighting all things local, and do so while simultaneously shining a light on big, bold, savory and sweet flavors that will make you swoon. Brix is so locally focused, in fact, that they work to bring in ingredients sourced from the local farmers and ranchers of Northern Arizona and the Four Corners region. As impressive a cocktail and wine bar as it is a dining destination, Brix’s drink menu is an eye-popping 14 pages long, filled to the brim with local beers and wines as well as regional, national and extremely exotic options.

Definitively Asian with some of the freshest fish in the state, Lotus Lounge boasts nigiri, sashimi and sushi rolls as well as a full menu of soups, noodles, rice and full entrees bursting with far out, Far East flavors.

Set amongst 500 acres of pristine Flagstaff forest and just miles from all of Downtown Flagstaff’s top attractions, The Little America Hotel, a four-diamond property, has been making headlines for more than just its location. In recent years, the award-winning hotel completed a more than 14,000-square-foot interior and partial exterior renovation to update the property, initially built in 1973. The enhancements include the addition of a modern, contemporary lobby with Southwestern flair and an impressive bar and restaurant called The Silver Pine. Even if not staying at the hotel, the restaurant’s creative cocktails, gastropub-meets-comfort-food menu and expansive patio (with heaters) that offers a view of both the stars and woodlands is worth a visit.

Tinderbox Kitchen

American, Comfort Food, New American$$
Though only 10 years old, Tinderbox Kitchen is often named among the restaurants credited for helping to re-launch the foodie movement in Flagstaff, and assisted in re-inventing the “Southside” neighborhood of the city, which now also includes Root Public House and several other restaurants. Focused on providing progressive – but not pretentious – American comfort food, the menu is often eclectic and always changing (think crispy duck confit served in a skillet with toasted quinoa and braised greens then doused in a perfect juniper duck broth). The restaurant itself has become so successful, in fact, the owners were able to acquire the space next door a few years ago and re-imagined it into “The Annex,” a hip, indoor-outdoor cocktail bar with real-deal mixologists and then recently took over the space next to that, creating a casual atmosphere where pastry and bakery meet all-day noshing goodness called the Tourist Home All Day Cafe.
