Executive Chef, Shane Robertson
Shane Robertson brings skill, passion and leadership to the culinary helm of UP on the Roof, downtown Greenville’s premiere rooftop restaurant and bar. His dedication to locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and his ability to seamlessly combine globally-inspired flavors with traditional Southern cuisine sets this 30-year veteran of the restaurant and hospitality industry apart. Robertson was an integral member of the opening team at UP on the Roof, where he started as Sous Chef in January 2017 and was quickly promoted to Executive Chef after only a few short months.
His culinary career has afforded Robertson the opportunity to travel extensively around the United States. After working in restaurants throughout the Southeast – including stints in Charlotte, Charleston and Knoxville – Robertson eventually landed his “dream gig” working as a private chef for nationally renowned musicians while they were out on tour. His list of clients reads like a who’s who of recording artists, and includes names like Miranda Lambert, Willie Nelson, Foo Fighters and The Avett Brothers, just to name a few. And in 2013, Robertson and his crew received a CMA Nomination for “Best Tour Caterer”.
After a few years on the road, however, Robertson decided to plant roots in Greenville, S.C. to spend more time with his daughter. When he’s not in the kitchen or spending time with family, Robertson enjoys cheering on the Greenville Drive (and all things baseball), going to concerts and traveling – especially if there’s a beach involved.
