Angelo Brocato® Original Italian Ice Cream Parlor has been operated by the Brocato family in New Orleans, Louisiana for over one hundred years, but our history is steeped in the Sicilian traditions that could be found in the capital city of Palermo at the end of the 19th century. Along with his brother Giuseppi, our grandfather, Angelo, began his apprenticeship in one of the city’s most elegant ice cream parlors at 12 years old. Through shuffling ice and salt to master chefs and choosing the ripest and finest fruits for producing granita, he learned the special recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation. As the Mediterranean fall turned to winter, all production efforts turned to baking and candy-making. During these cold seasons, young Angelo began to master the production of assorted biscotti, torrone, frutta Marturana (marzipan) and many other confections. Most importantly, he learned the necessary techniques to manufacture the famed cannoli Siciliana; these techniques and recipes are still used today in our North Carrollton shop.

VisitLocated in a historic 1930’s building, MARCELLO’s Restaurant & Wine Bar is a culinary experience. It is owned and operated by the Todaro Family, and Executive Chef, Blakley Kymen. With a passion for food and wine, our patriarch, Gene Todaro Sr., arrived in New Orleans from Sicily in 1961 and, since then, has succeeded as both a wine merchant and restaurateur. Today, MARCELLO’S is the marriage of those two specialties. From Italian classic to modern chef creations, our menu is simple but robust; and with our entire restaurant selection on display for guests to personally peruse, our wine program is unique throughout the city. In addition, competitive pricing distinguishes MARCELLO’s from traditional restaurant wine mark-ups. At MARCELLO’s, you will experience gracious service, an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, excellent comfort cuisine, and a comprehensive wine selection.
VisitWelcome to Marcello's Wine Market Cafe where we specialize in true Italian cooking. Born in Sicily & raised in New Orleans, we use the freshest ingredients that reflect authentic Sicilian cuisine with a touch of Northern Italy.
Our wine concept is giving guests the choice to browse our racks and make their selection from our value priced wines. Our wine pricing is slightly above wine boutique prices, but far below traditional restaurant wine list mark-ups.
VisitThis vintage Uptown standby has been serving its famous New Orleans Barbeque Shrimp since 1953. The shrimp are not actually barbequed, but cooked in a delectable, peppery butter sauce. Sit down and strap on a bib; the mess will be worth it. If you prefer oysters over shrimp, enjoy Pascal’s oyster bar in the front of the restaurant, where a friendly shucker will provide as many mollusks as you can muster an appetite for. Other dishes include Italian specialties, seafood and steaks. Join us to celebrate serving New Orleans for 100 years!
